Charlottetown, P.E.I. — After two cancelled sessions due to the weather and the need to elect a new chair, the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Fisheries is getting down to business again.

Tignish-Palmer Road MLA Hal Perry has been chosen as the new chair after Pat Murphy was appointed to cabinet.

Fisheries Minister Alan McIsaac and his deputy, John Jamieson, appeared before the committee on March 24 to talk lobster carapace size and the Atlantic halibut quota.
Those same topics from the federal perspective were discussed on March 31. The committee had hoped to hear from Fisheries and Oceans Minister Dominic LeBlanc, but had to settle for Kevin Stringer, associate deputy minister.
